We are back with the sixth edition of La Monocle’s monthly queer film club, created in collaboration with the wonderful Caroline Cassin. Each month, we gather to celebrate queer cinema, build community, and create a welcoming space to meet new people. This month we are going to be showing Park Chan-Wook’s 2016 historical psychological thriller The Handmaiden (2016).
Starring Kim Min-hee and Kim Tae-ri, the film surrounds an orphaned pickpocket Sook Hee and a Korean con man as they devise an elaborate plot to seduce and bilk a Japanese heiress out of her inheritance.
We’ll open doors at 6pm for a relaxed hour of mingling giving you a chance to chat and make friends. Drinks and snacks will be available at The Cinema Museum cafe/bar.
The film begins at 7pm. Whether it’s simply wanting a warm space to carry conversations, wanting to meet new people or to discover the beauty of Queer cinema, we got you.
