Showcasing LGBTQIA+ excellence in the jazz scene
After a big debut show earlier this year Queer Jazz—the platform founded by Arowah and Tina Edwards to spotlight LGBTQIA+ excellence in the jazz scene—is returning to Hoots with a very special PRIDE edition including:
Date My Mate’
Got a single queer or poly mate? Do them justice! Present them on stage to a room of Queer Jazz hotties. You’ve got 2-3 minutes and a projector for pics, videos or Powerpoint presentations. Bring a USB.
+ Live music from:
LA PATRI
Spanish singer-songwriter now based in London, she mixes both English and Spanish in her lyrics and blends Neo-Soul, Latin Jazz and Spanish folklore. She uses music to embrace her culture and translate her soul, with empowering themes of love, women and sensuality being reflected on her recent EP 'Madre Protectora/Protective Mother' in honour of her grandma.
Alley Lloyd
Bassist, guitarist and vocalist, Alley Lloyd has worked and performed alongside world-class artists including Poppy Ajudha, Nectar Woode and many more. Her work as an instrumentalist and composer has been featured on BBC Two, BBC Four, ITV, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 6, Worldwide FM, Barbican Cinema, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art’s Vanbrugh Theatre. As a composer, Alley currently co-composes for multi-award-winning, all-female Latin jazz project Colectiva, whose electric performance style and music have taken them to festivals and venues across the U.K., EU and USA. We can’t wait for Alley to bring her own band to Hoots.
Rounding it up, we have Short DJ sets throughout the night from Queer Jazz co-founder Tina Edwards.
